About Michael

Michael Mercer represents the Prescott Campus. Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Michael is a senior majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a concentration in Astronautics.

During his time at Embry-Riddle, Michael has advanced the student experience through his involvement in multiple activities. He is the president of the Student Government Association (SGA) and the assistant area coordinator for Housing and Residence Life. He is also a member of Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Gamma Tau – the Engineering and Aerospace Engineering Honor Societies – and a participant in the Leadership Engagement and Development (LEAD) Program.

Michael is a Presidential Scholarship and Student Leadership Grant recipient. He has been named to the Dean’s List on six occasions.

After graduating with his degree, Michael hopes to work in the defense or space industry as a systems engineer – a goal influenced by two internships and a part-time position with Northrup Grumman. He also plans to pursue a master’s degree while working.

As a delegate, Michael aims to advocate for continued positive growth on the Prescott Campus and to strengthen transparency between the Board of Trustees and the student body. He hopes to highlight the board’s important work at Embry-Riddle and ensure students are aware of their impact. He also aims to represent all Prescott students and their diverse needs.

“I want students to feel like their voices actually make a difference,” he said. “I want to help make our campus a place where people feel heard, supported and proud to be a part of Embry-Riddle.”

Outside of class, Michael enjoys running, hiking, playing pickleball and pick-up basketball, playing music, traveling and exploring the town of Prescott with friends.
